Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) – Virtual Reality Experience
We were commissioned to develop a semi high-end virtual reality experience for the Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA), designed for the Oculus Quest VR headset.
The goal of the project was to create an immersive environment where stakeholders could explore future airport development plans in an engaging and interactive way.
Virtual Reality Concept – Spaceship Environment
We designed a fully 3D modeled spaceship interior as the main environment for the experience. Inside this virtual space, a large interactive screen was integrated into the scene.
On this screen, we embedded a 2D video provided by ACSA, which presented the airport’s development plans and future vision.
This combination of immersive environment and informational media allowed users to experience complex infrastructure plans in a more engaging and intuitive way.
Oculus Quest Virtual Reality Experience

360° Video vs 6DOF Virtual Reality
The 360° video version of this project is used for demonstration purposes and differs from the full Oculus Quest application.
- The 360° video (3DOF) allows users to look around the scene from a fixed position
- The Oculus Quest application (6DOF) allows users to physically move around the spaceship interior and explore the environment interactively
This distinction is important, as the full VR application provides a significantly more immersive and spatially interactive experience.
