The Oculus Quest at the time was still brand new and only launched on the 21^st of May 2019. The Oculus Quest is a virtual reality headset created by Oculus VR, a division of Facebook Inc. The device is fully standalone, features two, six degrees of freedom (6DOF) controllers, and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system on chip.

We started experimenting with virtual reality in 1998. At the time we did mostly Virtual Tours. We created the virtual tours using Digital Cameras and Later DSLR Digital Cameras. Since that time I had the vision of shooting Panorama Images and combining these panoramas into a video. At the time I was self-funded and simply did not have the money to take the “Dream” and make it a product.

In 2012 I could for the first time afford to take a change on my dreams and create my own 360° Video Camera.

I made contact with Phillip van der Walt a leader in 3D Printing in South Africa and shared my dreams with him. Together we started developing our own configuration and frame work for the 360° Video Camera. We used the gopro range of cameras in our first product and configured them to shoot 360° still panorama images as well as 360° video.Below is some photographs of the 360° video camera rigs that we have developed.
